Designing the ultimate walk-in robe
Design the ultimate walk-in robe that will perfectly accommodate your threads in your new home.
MEASURE UP
An important step when designing your new robe is to consider your storage needs. Make a list of your most used items of clothing and accessories and what type of storage you’ll need to accommodate them.

MAXIMISE ON SPACE
Make sure every inch of the wardrobe is functional. Depending on the list you would have created from the above, divide the space into hanging space, drawers and shelves. Consider what combinations will work better for you. And remember to make space for future purchases. 😉
DRAWERS
The perfect storage solution for underwear, socks, pyjamas and active wear. Small dividers will ensure items stay neatly placed and will not be pushed to the back.

SHELVES
Shelves are the ultimate space to show off your smaller items like bags, hats or for folded clothing like jumpers, shirts and trousers. It’s important to consider the width of these shelves as you may want to accommodate one or more piles of folded clothing side by side.

HANGING SPACE
You will need two different types of hanging space. A portion of your space should be specifically for full length clothing, with space also allocated for shorter pieces. Railing should be approximately 1700-1900mm for full length items and roughly 1000mm for items such as shirts.

KICKS
If you consider yourself a shoe queen like Carrie Bradshaw, you will want to have your babies on display. The most effective way to store these is via open shelves at foot level.
ON DISPLAY
Consider specialised storage for all of your smaller accessories like jewellery, bags, ties and scarves. If you don’t have the space, include a neat dressing table with a mirror to create a small powder station.
