From steel and stone to brick, brass and timber, the Urban style is all about raw, natural materials. Perfect for people who want an edgy, architectural style maintaining a connection to the past, this strong style is brought to life through inspiration drawn from the natural environment.
The Urban style has been broken into four subsets to help further explore your preferred facade design.

THE OVERALL URBAN FAÇADE

The Urban style is all about natural exposed materials. When choosing brick, look for texture and warmth with an edge of ruggedness. Use timber feature panelling on walls and ceilings to create strength and high contrast.

ORGANIC

Organic facades often feature natural materials like wood or stone. These materials showcase their innate textures and patterns, creating a sense of harmony with the surrounding environment. They often incorporate curved or fluid shapes inspired by nature. These can be seen in the design of windows, archways, or rooflines. The use of smooth curves and flowing lines adds a sense of movement and organic flow to the facade. In addition to material, organic facades tend to utilise natural colour palettes inspired by the surroundings. Earthy tones, muted greens, browns, and greys are often chosen to blend harmoniously with the environment and evoke a sense of natural beauty.
Organic facades seek to maximise natural light penetration into the building's interior. Large windows, skylights, or translucent materials are often incorporated, allowing ample daylight to flood the spaces and create a connection between indoor and outdoor environments.

RUSTIC

Rustic facades often integrate natural materials such as stone, wood, or brick. These materials showcase their natural textures and imperfections, adding warmth and authenticity to the facade. They tend to embrace earthy and muted colour palettes. Shades of brown, tan, grey, and mossy greens are commonly used to blend with the natural surroundings and create a harmonious appearance. Incorporating traditional architectural details can enhance the rustic character of a facade. This may include features such as gable roofs, dormer windows, shutters, or decorative elements like corbels or brackets.
Rustic facades often feature welcoming porches or covered entries. These spaces provide a cosy and inviting atmosphere, allowing occupants to enjoy the outdoors while maintaining a connection to the rustic aesthetic.

INDUSTRIAL

Industrial characteristics in a facade draw inspiration from industrial architecture and design. These characteristics often incorporate raw and utilitarian elements to create a distinct and contemporary aesthetic. The use of metal cladding, such as corrugated steel or aluminium panels, is a hallmark of industrial facades. These materials provide a sleek and modern appearance while adding an industrial touch.
Industrial facades often feature large windows, including industrial-style steel-framed windows. These windows allow abundant natural light to enter the building and provide a sense of openness.
The colour palate typically uses a neutral palette, such as shades of grey, black, white, or earthy tones. These colours complement the industrial materials and create a contemporary and understated look.

SOUTH WESTERN

Southwestern characteristics in a facade draw inspiration from the architecture and design of the American Southwest, particularly regions like Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Texas. These characteristics reflect the cultural and historical influences of Native American, Spanish, and Mexican design elements.
South Western facades use a warm and earthy colour palette to blend with the desert landscape. Colours like terracotta, sandy beige, warm browns, and muted greens are commonly used to evoke a sense of harmony with the surroundings.
For a traditional look, use stonework on front façade with brick or with brickwork and render.
